A Note from Chris: As the season ends, and Monica is too busy with the final harvest to write a blog post, I’ll share an essay with you.

We hiked (a lot), dug a sand point well, tended a garden, defended ourselves against grasshopper swarms, stared at aspen groves, did some yurt-improvement projects, befriended (and then sadly hazed) a wolf, took naps in the meadow, savored pink sunsets and misty sunrises, read the Sunday paper, and generally marveled at the natural beauty all around us. So, here is my essay—”What We Did This Summer”—in pictures.

  1. So beautiful! Great pics, Chris. And…did you build the cabin? What’s the building in that one picture there? Curious to know your progress on that. Hope to see you guys again soon!

  2. Thanks Marion, Hilary, Yve & Angi! It is a magical place, photos don’t quite capture it all. To answer your question Marion, our cabin building project is coming along, albeit a little slower than hoped, not sure what building you’re asking about…perhaps our yurt in the sunset pic?

  3. Wow. What a gift you have been given to be able to not only live in such a beautiful place, but to also be able to appreciate it. How special. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Absolutely gorgeous scenery captured beautifully by you and your camera!

You must post in detail about the sand point well and how it is working for you!

  5. O, so very lovely, blue, pinks and greens and grays. I kind of think Chris took these wonderful photos. What an eye for the beauty of nature. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Bellissimo! Hoping all is well as Summer turns in to Fall. We were hoping to make it your way this summer, but as the Cubs always say……maybe next year. Look forward to the next post!
